Grant Process

While HSSF accepts grant proposals on a rolling basis at any time that is convenient for teachers and staff, the selection committee typically meets once each year to determine recipients.  The grant committee, comprised of both teachers and community leaders, will then review all previously submitted proposals. The deadline to be considered for the Zimmerman/Moeller student grant is the last Wednesday in September (9.26.18).  The deadline for all other HSSF grant awards is the second Wednesday in October (10.10.18).  SPARK Fund applications are accepted year round.  Faculty and staff are encouraged to follow the Foundation on Facebook and Twitter for additional reminders or changes to the process.  Educators are encouraged to visit our community friendly funders page or connect with Kristen Wolf for funding needs that fall outside of our grant process.

The grant committee uses a combination of objective and subjective criteria when evaluating grant applications. Applications that clearly meet more criteria will generally be viewed more favorably during evaluation. In some instances HSSF is not able to fund all requests due to budgetary constraints. This does not mean that a rejected application is inappropriate or unsatisfactory.

For questions about the process or technical assistance please contact Kristen Wolf.   You can also contact colleagues on the grant committee with general questions: Julie Vairo (FCE), Sara Cherry (LRE), Sara Curran (TCE),   Crystal Thorpe (FJH), Danielle Chastain and Matt Kegley.

Thank you for all you do each day to empower, encourage, and motivate our students!
