Description
Hamilton Southeastern Education Foundation and the Abigail Cox Legacy Fund have established a memorial scholarship in honor of Abigail who died in a car accident July 5, 2023 while serving as a summer counselor at Kanakuk Christian Camp. Abigail, a 2021 graduate of Hamilton Southeastern High School, made the most of her high school career, participating in athletics, student council, National Honors Society and spirit club. She was also extremely passionate about serving in Young Life and other faith-based organizations ministering to area youth.
During her two years at Purdue, Abigail excelled in building connections with others and helping them grow through her sisterhood at Zeta Tau Alpha, Greek VI and Greater Lafayette Young Life. The foundation of Abigail’s legacy is built on three pillars: live with intention, give more and love others deeply. The $20,000, four-year scholarship ($5,000 awarded annually) will be awarded to a student who meets the eligibility requirements and exemplifies Abigail’s spirit. Hamilton Southeastern High School, in cooperation with the Colglazier family, has established a memorial scholarship in honor of their daughter Carrie Colglazier who was tragically killed by a drunk driver on June 6th, 2003. Carrie was an HHS two sport, All State student- athlete in soccer and track. She was an active member of the FFA program and a member of National Honor Society. She was extremely passionate about her family, friends, teammates, teachers and coaches. Carrie took great pride in being a Royal! The $16,000, four year scholarship ($4,000 awarded annually) is funded by an endowment through the Hamilton Southeastern Education Foundation and by the Carrie Colglazier Community Service Workday. The Workday, which is typically held the last Saturday in September, includes workers from the Girls Soccer and Track teams, along with members of FFA and National Honor Society. Workers are asked to work up to an 8 hour day (8:00am-4:00pm) in the HSE schools community for a minimum $25.00 donation per worker. All proceeds go toward the scholarship. Applicants are encouraged to personalize their application, and must complete all required sections and submit prior to the deadline. Requirements
- To be eligible, applicants must be a current senior and have participated in HHS Girls Soccer, HHS Girls Track, HHS National Honor Society, and/or FFA (either HHS or FHS).
- Applicants must have consistently participated in the Colglazier Community Service Workday.
- Applicants must have demonstrated academic achievement, leadership roles, and community service.
- Applicants must be a senior who plans to attend a two year or four year college, university, vocational or trade school.
- Applicants must submit two letters of reference: one from teacher or administrator who can verify academic and leadership potential and one from a non-relative, community member. Letters of reference should speak specifically to the Carrie Colglazier Memorial Scholarship.
- Applicants are requested, but not required, to submit a current photo.
- Applicants should complete an essay entitled “Lessons Learned,” describing a non-classroom experience during your four years at HHS/FHS that has impacted your personal growth. Describe the situation and the lessons that were learned through this experience.
- Applicants are strongly encouraged to include a resume in addition to the application that highlights extra curricular activities, community service and leadership experiences.

This $500 memorial scholarship was established to honor 2009 FHS graduate Chelsea M. Wheeler. Chelsea was strong willed and willing to voice her opinions, especially if it would change something for the better. At a mere 5 feet tall, she was small but mighty. She LOVED history and you would often see her in clever shirts referencing her favorite figures in history, especially Abe Lincoln. Chelsea planned to be a history teacher. She loved her family and friends more than anything. She valued careers dedicated to keeping people healthy and well.

The Mudsock Football & Cheer Scholarship aims to recognize outstanding student-athletes who have demonstrated exceptional dedication both on and off the field. This scholarship is designed to support students who have been active participants in Mudsock Football or Cheer for at least two years (including Knights), meet certain academic requirements, and embody the core principles of Readiness, Respect, Effort, and Fun as exemplified by Coach Chris.

This $1,500 scholarship has been established in honor of Jason Sipher, a 2011 graduate of Fishers High School. Jason was a dedicated athlete in wrestling, cross-country, and track, lettering numerous times. He was awarded the “Heart of the Tiger” award in his senior season of cross-country. Jason also served on the Student Athletic Council and returned several times post-graduation to assist in wrestling or running clubs or events. He was a relentless optimist and a persuasive writer with an affinity for the most ridiculous one-liner jokes such as those found on Laffy Taffy wrappers. Artistically, he was an accomplished origami folder with more than one hundred written volumes of origami texts in his personal library.
Requirements
- To be eligible, students must be a senior from FHS.
- Students must have participated in one full season of wrestling or cross country.
- Students must provide a statement about plans to attend a post-high school education institution such as college, university, trade school or vocational school.
- Students should complete an essay or video that demonstrates the applicant’s experiences, engagement, optimism, leadership and personal ideology about the topic of social pressures.

Mudsock Youth Softball presents two $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors from either HHS and/or FHS.
Requirements
- Must be a senior at FHS or HHS
- Must have at least a 2.8 GPA
- Must have plans for higher education at an accredited school
- Must have participated in a minimum of four years of softball within the Mudsock Youth Athletics Program (Rec, All-Stars, Cats) and played at least one year of softball at Fishers High School and/or Hamilton Southeastern High School
- Must submit two letters of reference, one from an HSE Schools staff member and another from an unrelated personal reference (ex: coach, volunteer organization head, etc.)
- Must submit an essay on how softball has impacted your life and how you have given back to softball

Description
This $5,000 scholarship is in memory of Nathaniel Mroz. Nate was selected as the captain of the HSEHS football team in 2017-18. He loved being part of the team and called teammates his brothers. His senior year, Nate was awarded the Don Nagy award for leadership in football and the Set a Good Example award from school. He won multiple awards for his character throughout his life, and had a way of making everyone feel important. This scholarship honors him and will be awarded to a current senior HSEHS football player who lives the way Nate did.

The Peterson Family Scholarship was established to recognize, in memoriam, Roma Peterson, a 1942 Fishers High School graduate and high school English teacher for 16 years at Fishers High School and 16 years at Hamilton Southeastern High School. Her son, Mike, a 1967 FHS graduate, served on the HSE School Board for nine years and was a co-founder of the Hamilton Southeastern Education Foundation. Mike’s wife, Paula, worked for the HSE Foundation in establishing the HSE Endowment Fund. Roma’s other son, Kevin (deceased), and grandsons Tony, Mark and Nick are HSE graduates. Four generations of the Peterson family are either graduates of FHS/HHS or have worked for or served in various volunteer capacities for the HSE School District. Two $1,500 scholarships will be awarded to a FHS senior and an HHS senior.

This $1,750 scholarship award was established to honor Robert B. Dyson Jr. for his passion and dedication towards empowering and educating young people in the area of civic education. Civic virtue is defined as caring more about community than self as well as being an enlightened and educated citizen. Since 2007, Mr. Dyson has volunteered hundreds of hours working with the Fishers High School We the People team in an effort to instill civic virtue in our future’s most precious commodity, our children. In addition, he volunteers his time on the CEAC (Civic Education Action) committee for the Indiana Bar Foundation and serves as a judge at We the People competitions around the State of Indiana. It is in honor of his civic virtue to the Fishers community that one student will be honored for their demonstration of civic virtue as well.

When students donate blood, they learn the value of volunteering, community involement, and altruism. They also discover that giving blood is quick and virtually painless. Studies show that people who learn to volunteer at an early age are more likely to make donating blood a lifelong practice. Indiana Blood Center is giving seniors the opportunity to lower upcoming college costs by raising their sleeves!
Two seniors from FHS will receive:
– a $600 scholarship, paid to the student’s Indiana college or university of their choice
– red cords to be worn during their graduation ceremony
