HSSF surprises students for first Student-Led grants
Feb 17, 2020Since its inception in 2001, the Hamilton Southeastern Schools Foundation (HSSF) has served the Hamilton Southeastern Schools community by providing classroom, school and district grants each year. New in 2020, was the foundation’s first student-led grant cycle where students came up with the project ideas and in many instances filled out the grant applications themselves.
For the second time this year, board members, student board members, donors and staff conducted the HSSF Spring Grant Patrol to “spread the love” to our students just days before Valentine’s Day. Teachers who helped with the grants assisted HSSF with surprising the students in their classrooms. HSSF was honored to award 33 student-led grants during this new spring grant cycle:
- 16 locations are receiving awards (Elementary: 24, Intermediate/Junior High: 8, High School: 1
- Grant themes: Outdoor projects, gardens, service learning projects, STEM
HSSF is proud to partner with location organizations, businesses and private donors to leverage additional support for our schools. The Foundation would like to recognize and thank these generous donors who helped us extend our reach throughout the district:
- Bailey & Wood Mortgage
- City of Fishers non-profit committee
- Geist Half Marathon
- Re/Max Complete
- Fishers Tri Kappa
- Schwarz Family Foundation
- Wal-Mart store #5767
