Case Statement

The Hamilton Southeastern Schools District has been Indiana’s fastest‐growing district for more than a decade while still performing in the top ten in Indiana for student performance. Four schools have received the U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon award and both high schools have been recognized by state and national publications for rigor and excellence with over 90% of students pursuing post‐secondary education.
HSE Schools District faces many challenges of doing more with less while maintaining excellence. It continues to face inadequate funding based on the state funding formula which presents a major challenge to recruiting the best teachers and to maintaining acceptable class sizes. In addition, with the need to prepare our 21st Century learners and leaders, continued professional development is necessary to advance curriculum and keep up with rapidly changing technology.

Given these challenges, the Hamilton Southeastern Schools Foundation (HSSF) is compelled to provide more support for innovative and creative needs to enhance educational excellence. Relying solely on local, state, and federal tax‐based revenue streams alone is no longer a sufficient answer for offering innovative and creative educational programs. With your support, HSSF is an answer to bridge the gap between needs for innovative and creative ideas and the funds to implement them. HSSF, a 501c(3) non‐profit organization, has been connecting private sector support to the educational community since 2001. The Foundation helps bridge the gap of funding innovative and creative needs to enhance educational excellence by providing grants to educators and scholarships to students. With the support of our community, the Foundation has distributed over $1 million in educator grants and student scholarships since its inception.

From our recent strategic planning process, HSSF determined the need to do more, given the many funding challenges facing HSE Schools and the desire we all share in enhancing the excellence in the education of our children provided by HSE Schools. To address that need to do more…….more grants to educators and larger scholarships to students…..we need more support from businesses, individuals, and organizations in the community.
Our goal is to raise $100,000 this year.

Please thoughtfully consider supporting the drive towards enhancing excellence in our schools!
